I have brought home a lot of large play toys…more than my husband would like.  One of my boys favorite large play toy is our indoor play gym BrainRich Kids. This is the first and last toy they play with every day.

Before I go in on my thoughts, I love to do a deep dive on all the research I found on BrainRich Kids.

What is BrainRich Kids?

BrainRich Kids is a small family ran company that started in Washington state and is now based in Florida. They specialize  in indoor play gym (playground) using the concept of the Swedish wall gym.

What is the Swedish Wall gym?

The Swedish wall gym has been around for about 50 years. A play gym that consists of a Swedish wall gym is a playground that has a ladder attached to the wall or ceiling.  I have seen a Swedish ladder be made out of steel and wood.

Where is The BrainRich Kids made?

The BrainRich Kids play gyms are manufactured in Russia. The manufacturer has been awarded  TÜV NORD certification and certified in ISO 9001. The  play gyms are made from 2 mm high grade steel that is certified to hold 220 lb weight with anti slip coating.  The gyms meet the US and European safety standards.

Available Models

There are a variety of versions of BrainRich Kids play gym that include tension-mounted pressure and wall mounted models. The current models have two color options space grey and orange.

W2

W2 or W2 Max play gym attaches to the wall (hangs 9 inches away from the wall.)  This option is great for homes with vaulted ceilings. More info here

Spider

The Spider V2, V2 Max are pressure mounted play gyms. This is the largest set available. They do not need screws to put on the ceilings. More info here

What model do we have?

We have the BrainRich Kids Spider V1. The difference between the V1 and V2 is the poles on the ceiling. The V1 has one pole and the V2 pole split in 2 to disperse the pressure in the ceiling.

How we got our BrainRich Kids

We received ours second hand. Majority of the BrainRich Kids gym was assembled. It was broken down to fit in my van with 3 kids in car seats. The play gym fit in the van trunk with the ladder split to the middle.

Assembly

95% of our indoor play gym was already assembled. Assembly took 4 hours with two adults (myself and MIL). We didn’t have instructions, but found the BrainRich Kids videos on the website. It was a lot of rewinding to get all the pieces together. If we did not have these videos we wouldn’t have figured it out. Screwing in the hardware was easy to do once we figured out how it was assembled. When assembling we realized a few of the items and screws that were important were missing.

When buying brand new everything will need to be assembled, I highly recommend doing this when the kids are sleeping or not at home. The play gym will come with tools to assemble it. It will take a long time, but the hardware to screw the pieces together are easy to maneuver. We had a few outdoor play items where the screws were hard to assemble with the given tools. The BrainRich Kids hardware and tools provided to build the play gym was easy to use.

Boards on the ceilings?

The boards on the ceilings are to protect the paint. The previous owners assembled the gym with the poles attached directly to the ceiling without using boards to protect it and took off paint. We measured the area where we planned to set up the gym and bought white boards from Ikea. Our boards are not screwed to the ceiling, but kept in place by the pressure.

TIP: Have a stud finder and painters tape handy to mark where the studs are. We placed the pull up bar directly on studs.

We marked the ceiling with painters tape to identify where the studs are.

Can this be assembled by 1 person?

Majority of it can be assembled by 1 person, however when mounting the Spider Model to the ceiling you will need someone or something to support the metal especially if you want to add a board to protect the ceiling. When my MIL and I did it the board fell down a few times so just be careful 😛

Competitors:  From my research these are the main competitors to the BrainRich kids play Gym that I have found.

Fitness Kid

Fitness Kid is a US distributor that is similar to BrainRich Kids. Fitness kid is in the east coast (New Jersey). I have not found any information on the type of manufacturer and the certifications it has. However, when looking at the gyms they have a Romana sticker. The indoor play gym sets are more expensive with brighter colors (mostly blue).

Amazon

There are a few indoor play gyms on Amazon. If you click on the product listings you can see that they are Romana. The gyms available are more expensive with brighter colors.

Limi Kids

Limi Kids is a Canadian distributor founded in 2008 with a similar product. Limi Kids has a showroom in Toronto. The indoor play gym sets are more expensive with brighter colors (mostly green).

My experience:

Once our play gym was set up, we realized we were missing some important hardware for the pull up bar. I reached out to BrainRich Kids and Fitness Kids to purchase replacement parts. Both agreed to help and asked for my order number which I didn’t have because I wasn’t the original owner. I gave the information they needed and my shipping address to  find exact shipping cost. I followed up with Fitness Kids multiple times and they stopped responding to my emails while BrainRich Kids was very communicative on Instagram.

I was EXTREMELY surprised when I found a box addressed to me on my front porch. BrainRich Kids sent me the missing parts that I needed at no cost. The customer service of BrainRich Kids went above and beyond my expectation especially since I wasn’t even the original owner for the BrainRich Kids play gym.
