February 24, 2021- Editting to add- Never Nude Liner washing capabilities
With 3 kids under 4 years old I have had many accidents including spit up and pee puddles. Just a few weeks ago, I had to learn how to strip pee off our couch cushion. Thank you Baking Soda, Odor Ban, and sun for getting rid of urine smell.
I heard of the Never Nudes June 2020 in a Facebook Nugget group. I went straight to the website and ordered the Never Nudes. When I ordered, I didn’t even own a Nugget. But 100% knew my kids are dirty and would eventually get a hold of one. I was lucky because my Never Nude order was in the first batch of preorders and I got my Nugget end of July. I had about 2sh months of being a very stressed out mom making sure my kids did not ruin the foam.
What is a Never Nude?
Never Nudes is pretty much a mattress protector on your Nugget Comfort couch. The liners are meant to be used under a fabric cover to protect your foam from dust mites and liquid spills. The liners are not a replacement for the Nugget Comfort covers, but an add on to keep your Nugget foam safe. The liners individually cover the foam. For one base cover you will receive two liners.
Never Nude liner, are not affiliated with Nugget Comfort. The Never Nude liner is a product from a small home-based business, Created by Couture, based in Oregon. The liners are manufactured in China from Created by Couture’s original design.
There are 3 options of Never Nudes:
Item | Number of Pieces | Description |
Full Liner | 6 | 2 triangle, 2 thin base, 2 thick base |
Base Pack | 4 | 2 thin base, 2 thick base |
Pillow Pack | 2 | 2 triangles |

Materials:
The Never Nudes is a zip on liner made from polyester fabric backed with polyurethane laminate (PUL). The fabric is used to make modern cloth diaper covers or wet bags. The cover also protect from mites and liquid spills. The fabric is tested to remain waterproof for 40 wash cycles in hot water (195ยบ F) water and after 40 washes it was still waterproof. The test didn’t go on longer than 40 trials and it is expected to remain waterproof much longer if washed under normal care instructions.
Zippers and pullers are all OEKO-TEX 100 Standard for safety (European standard that meets the US requirements as well).
The zippers and covers are designed to reduce wear on the outer cover.
Teeth hidden zipper style and the zipper puller cover are also meant to reduce any wear on the covers from the inside. The zippers have a small stretchable “pocket” to secure the zipper from moving around during play. Puller cover is helpful for preventing kids or pets from easily getting to the foam and destroying with biting or picking.
Airflow:
The Never Nudes are air permeable. The air breathability is important in case moisture gets in. The moisture can evaporate instead of remaining and causing issues with mildew/mold. Alternatives like a trash bag and duct tape might run into possible mildew or mold with the lack of breathability.
Air flow is very important for your Nugget. With all the play and tumbling, the air is pushed out of the foam, if there is a covering that does not have great air flow (like a trash bag or a shower curtain), it will take a long time for your foam to go back to its shape. The Never Nudes material lets the foam “bounce back” quickly.
Design:
Triangle Liners:
The triangle liner will have the zipper on 2 of the 3 sides of one end of a triangle. I place the triangle zipper on the top sides of the triangle. The zipper follows the inseam of one end of the triangle while the Nugget zipper goes through the top of triangle.
Base Liners:
The thin and thick base liner will have the zipper on 2 of the 4 sides of the base. The zipper is placed on the edge like the Nugget Comfort fabric covers.
Liner Application:
Triangle liners:
Scrunch and shimmy the triangle liners on like you would hosiery.
Squish the foam to easily zip it up.
When putting covers on over your liners, press down on the foam ahead of the zipper closing. This will help avoid catching the liner fabric in the cover’s zipper teeth.

I like to know where the top of my triangle is (triangle with zipper dent) and face it up. The triangle flap is placed opposite of the “dented” angle. I push down the foam on the side of each triangle and carefully pull it up on each side until I am at the end of the triangle.
When I zip up the liners and covers, I think of myself sucking in to not get the zipper caught. I push the foam down and bring the two sides together to decrease the chances of the zipper caught on the foam to ruin the zipper or foam.
Base liners:
For the bases, set the foam on end and put the liner on like a hood. Tuck in the corners. Squish the foam to easily zip it up.
When putting covers on over your liners, press down on the foam ahead of the zipper closing. This will help avoid catching the liner fabric in the cover’s zipper teeth.

Tip: Before placing the base liners on, separate the liners with the appropriate bases and have space to move around.
Nugget Comfort Cover Application:
Triangle Application:
I own a full Nugget and a pillow pack. The video above will show the Nugget cover application with 4 triangles.
Base Application:
The base application will show the thin base first and the thick base second.
Tip: Place the liner zipper inside the cover “pocket” faced down. The Never Nude zipper will be opposite of the Nugget Comfort cover zipper.
Noise:
There is a slight crinkle noise with play use. The noise is similar to having a mattress protector. My two boys are loud when playing, so I don’t even notice the noise unless there is complete silence.
Care Tips:
The Never Nudes came in large Zip Loc bags with instructions.
Wash before use recommended: wash warm; dry low.

Tip: Place zipped liners in individual mesh bags to protect material.
Prior to using I washed my liners. I zipped up the zippers and placed each liner in individual mesh bags. I used Ecos Free and Clear and chose the delicate option on my washer machine. I decided to air dry my liners overnight with my collapsible 2 tier drying rack.
Price:
There are 3 options of Never Nudes:
Item | Price | Number of Pieces | Break Down |
Full Liner | $89 | 6 | 2 triangle, 2 thin base, 2 thick base |
Base Pack | $65 | 4 | 2 thin base, 2 thick base |
Pillow Pack | $40 | 2 | 2 triangles |
Cheaper Alternatives:
Nugget recommends GoodNites Disposable bed mats
Pros: Affordable
Cons: Does not fully waterproof the foam. If a corner has a spill, it could potentially get on the foam. During play the cover can bunch up.
The disposable bed mats are single use only. Once they are wet or bunched up, you will need to dispose. This will be increase waste and continued expense.
Garbage bag or Shower Curtain and duct tape
Pros: Affordable, products in your home
Cons: Lack of air flow. Potential mildew/mold build up, air bubbles when playing.
Where do I order:
Never Nudes are available at the Created By Couture website. Orders are grouped by order date. There are two sold-out groups waiting for liners expected in October and November 2020.
Currently, preorders are open until the end of September for a group estimated to receive liners in January 2021.

Final Thoughts:
I own the Nugget Comfort and the Foamnasium Blocksy. Read my comparison post here.
I love them equally. However, before the Never Nudes I tend to put the Nugget in a corner where it was hard to reach for my kids. With the Never Nude liners I am more flexible and let the kids play with it however they want.
