With both of my son’s there were a lot of items I never thought I would use, but ended up loving. These items might not be totally necessary, but they have really made my life easier.

If you are looking for a gift for a friend or wanting to look for an item to help you with your child try these items.

Haakaa

I used the milksaver with Emerson which only allowed me to save 1 oz at most on the opposite breast when breastfeeding. I have been using the Haakaa with Liam and I love it! It suctions to your breast allowing more milk to drop. I have been able to save up to 3 oz when feeding Liam.

Boppy Newborn Lounger

We got this as a gift from my sister in law with my first son and this turned out to be one of my favorite gifts. We bring the pillow everywhere. It is a great place to put the baby when we are eating, cleaning, etc.

Shusher

The shusher is a portable sound machine that will put your little one to sleep. Our newborn photographer used this on Liam when he was just a few days old. After the photoshoot, I went to Amazon and bought it that day. It has been a lifesaver every time we go in the car.

Owlet Baby Monitor 2

The owlet is a large investment, but it gives me peace of mind knowing that my little one is breathing without disturbing his sleep. Before I got the Owlet, I would wake up and place my hands on Liam to see if he was still breathing. A few minutes after checking him, he would wake up. To save my sleep and sanity, I got the Owlet.

Feel like the Owlet monitor is still too expensive? We did too. We got the certified refurbished one. We saved $100 and it came packaged and operated like a brand new one.

Video Baby Monitor

If you are going to invest in a video baby monitor I would recommend the DBPower Digital Baby Monitor. We used a Summer Video baby monitor with our first son and loved it, but once he transitioned from his crib to sleeping in his own bed we had trouble getting him to stay in his room. One of the features that we love about The DB Power Digital Baby Monitor is that it has a two way talk feature. This allows us to talk to our son and tell him to go back to bed without having to go into his room. Invest in a higher quality baby monitor so you don’t have to buy another one in a few years.

Ring Sling

This is my favorite gift from my first pregnancy. I never realized that there is a whole community dedicated to babywearing. The ring sling is a great introduction to baby wearing, and is my go to wrap when I need to do a quick errand.

Ear Protection

Fourth of July, family parties, and sports events. These ear muffs are amazing to protect your little ones ears. We place it in our diaper bag as a just in case.

Wubanub

The wubanub is a great pacifier for little ones. It’s easy for your baby to hold and a lot harder to lose than your standard pacifier. This is the first pacifier that my son Liam actually likes.

Munch Mittens

My little one loves to chew on his fingers the munch mitten helps with his sensory while he does what he wants.

Goumiboots

The Goumiboots are the only booties that actually stay on our sons feet. They adjust as they grow and are a must have for when your little ones wear pants and need to cover their feet. With normal socks, we always end up loosing at least one of them when we are out doing errands.

Funzie

I love this fleece bunting. Unlike most bulky buntings, this one is thin but will still keep you baby warm during chilly days. This is a must-have for fall and winter babies. We are going to buy this as our little one grows!
